How to Host an Epic Movie Awards Party at / -- free printables, decor ideas, and deals on award winning products. #AwardWithSavings #ad
Hi guys!  Do you get excited when movie awards season rolls around?  We do!  I love to watch the red carpet, dish about the fashion, and make predictions about who's going to win each award {even though we haven't seen half of the movies}.  So. Much. Fun!  Usually we gather around the TV as a family in our jammies and settle in for the evening, but I have always thought it would be awesome to throw a fancy party and invite our friends to dress up and walk the red carpet in real life.  My husband, not so much.  Now that my kids are teenagers, however, I have a whole new group of people to entertain!  My kids were totally game for throwing the "most epic" movie awards party their friends had ever seen.  Woohoo!

How to Host an Epic Movie Awards Party in 3 simple steps:

1. Prepare Your Friends

An epic party begins with an epic invitation so your guests can catch the vision of what's in store the night of the event.  We thought an Old Hollywood Gala would be a fun idea so we went in that direction.

The blank version is available here for you to download and use.  Just add your party info, print, and send it to all your guests.

2. Prepare Your Home

A "gala" calls for some super fancy decorations and food.  I'm thinking mocktails, metallic gold, mirrored finishes, and a touch of Hollywood memorabilia.

We found mirrored frames at the dollar store and filled them with iconic images from classic movies found on the internet.  To get our guests mingling, we made a game of identifying the movies represented by the images.  The person who can correctly guess the most classic movies will win a pair of movie tickets! {My daughter and her friend are taking Film Study this year in school, so they may have an unfair advantage...}

We also thought it would be fun {and a little cheeky} to frame some common awards show phrases to add to the decor:

3. Prepare Yourself!

You can't show up to your own gala looking like a scrub!  Before your friends show up to celebrate the top picks in entertainment, get your act together with some award winning products.  Make sure your nicest clothes are Tide-clean and pressed.  Brush your teeth with whitening toothpaste like Crest 3D White Brilliance for a sparkling movie-star smile.  And, by all means, make sure you apply your Secret or Old Spice deodorant so you don't break a sweat under pressure as the host!  {You want "the scent of confidence", don't you?}

Printable Recipe Card Templates

Cute printable recipe card templates you can customize with your favorite recipes from /

Hi guys!  One of my favorite gifts I made years ago for my friends were these mini recipe books.  I digi-scrapped several of my favorite easy, but super delicious recipes and put them in little photo books.  I made one for myself at the time and still use it often.  The idea evolved over the years into my Meal Planning and Recipe binder.  I have had several people contact me, who would love to use this idea, but either don’t have the time or computer program to create their own cutesy recipe cards.  With that in mind, I have created a few blank recipe card templates for y’all.

The recipe card templates are available to download for your personal use from my Dropbox.  After you download the templates, you can open them in a photo-editing program like Gimp {my personal favorite}, PicMonkey, or Picasa and add your recipe text.  I wrote a tutorial for adding text to your images using Gimp that you might find helpful. If you don't feel super tech-savvy, you could write the recipes by hand!

Print the cards onto cardstock or as 4x6 inch photo prints after you add your recipe to them.

If you are looking for a head start  {and some delicious recipes to boot} here are some recipe cards I’ve already made, which can also be downloaded for personal use here:

2016 LDS Primary and Youth Theme Binder Cover Printables

2016 LDS Theme Printables for Primary, Young Women and Young Men. Free Binder Cover Printables from /

Hi guys!  I was recently asked to serve as the secretary for the children’s organization of our church, called Primary.  I’m pretty excited about this new adventure, since I have NEVER had the opportunity to work in Primary before!!  I designed some new binder covers for our Presidency with the new 2016 Primary Theme, so I thought I would share them with y’all as well.  Hopefully they will help some of you.

I also created this coordinating Year-at-a-Glance page with the monthly themes and a little 2016 calendar that you can add inside the binder or put on the back cover:

Because I have previously served in the Young Women’s organization for many years, and it is near and dear to my heart, I have designed Binder Covers with the 2016 Youth Theme as well.

Don't you just love the ombre watercolor and feathers?!  Those elements are free digital downloads from Angie Makes.  I may or may not have squealed like a little girl when I found her page full of digital pretties!  I also have sons in quorum presidencies so I have designed a less girly option, too!

Each of the three options can be downloaded either unlabeled as you see above, or labeled with presidency titles:

As a bonus I have included 8x10 JPG files in case you want to print them for framing as well.  All the files are available to download and print for your personal use from my Dropbox here. They will print perfectly on 8 1/2 x 11 paper or cardstock.

Easy Neighbor Gift Idea
Candy Cane Popcorn and Printable Gift Bag

Candy Cane Popcorn -- easy neighbor gift idea and printing on paper bags tutorial at /

Hi guys!  For years we have given our neighbors and friends this Candy Cane Popcorn at Christmas time.  A couple of times I got creative and tried something new, but people always beg for us to bring back the Candy Cane Popcorn.  It’s so stinkin’ good!  Plus, it’s easy to make.  You can whip up enough for everyone on your list in just a couple of hours.

All you need are Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses and microwave popcorn.  Sometimes, if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll sprinkle it with crushed candy cane “dust”, but you don’t have to.  It’s every bit as good without.

Candy Cane Popcorn

2 bags Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses {or white chocolate chips if you can’t find the kisses}
3 bags Pop Secret Home Style microwave popcorn {or your favorite brand}

Pop the popcorn.  Remove all the unpopped kernels and place in a large bowl.

Unwrap the kisses and place in a microwave-safe bowl.  Melt the kisses in the microwave in 30-45 second intervals, stirring in between.

When all the kisses are melted, pour over popcorn and stir gently to coat.  Spread popcorn out on wax paper to cool and allow the candy coating to solidify.  After it is cooled and dry, break into bite-size chunks and serve {or package as gifts}.

I also designed these printable bags you can use to package it in.  Printing a cute logo on the bag makes even a brown paper lunch sack seem special.  If you’ve never printed on paper bags before, get ready for your life to be changed!  It is really easy.

How to print on a paper bag:

You will need:

Large lunch sacks {I got the 6x12" "jumbo" bags}
A design to print {download my Candy Popcorn logo or design your own!}
ribbon

If you are using my design, you can skip ahead to the PRINTING steps.

If you want to DESIGN your own bag:
1. Open Microsoft Word.  Choose Blank Document.

2. Click on Page Layout in the upper left corner and then choose Size.  Go all the way down to the bottom of the drop-down menu and choose "More Paper Sizes".  Choose "Custom Size" in the pop-up window and enter the dimensions of your bag.  If you are using the Jumbo bags, you will enter Width: 6   Height: 12   and click OK.

3. Create your design using cute fonts and clip art -- whatever you like.  Remember, your print will turn out better if you keep it on the upper part of the bag, rather than the part at the bottom that is folded.

When you are ready for PRINTING:
1. Click on "Print" and then go to "Printer Properties".

2. All printers are a little different, but make sure you flip the design 180 degrees so that it will print in the right spot on your bag and be right side up. For me it is under Page Layout.  Once you have checked the box, click OK.

3. Insert bag into printer as shown below:
Candy Cane Popcorn -- easy neighbor gift idea and printing on paper bags tutorial at /
I found it helpful to make sure the crease on the bottom of the bag was really sharp so that the printer would pull it in without a problem.

4.  Click Print and watch the magic happen:

Fill the printed bags with popcorn, tie the top with cute ribbon, and you’re all set to deliver holiday happiness to the whole neighborhood.

Printable Christmas Gift Tags

FREE Printable Holiday Gift Tags at /

Hi guys!  In past years I’ve shared how we keep Christmas simple here in our family by giving only 4 gifts – something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read.  {Of course, even though they’re teenagers, Santa still comes calling -- they’re exceptionally good kids, after all.  He usually brings the “something they want”. } Now that the kids are a little older, my husband and I like to get tricky with it.  Something to wear could be cologne or gym socks with the key tag for their new gym membership tucked inside.  Something to read could be a magazine subscription. Last year we did “something for reading” and gave them down comforters {so they could curl up in bed with a good book}. Something they need might be a wallet or new earbuds with an iTunes gift card to make it a little more fun.  It has become something my kids really look forward to each year.  I’ve designed some new printable gift tags with that theme in mind.

The printable is available to download for your personal use here.  Print it straight from your home printer onto cardstock, or send it to your favorite local print center.  I always use Staples Copy and Print because they do a nice job.
